It is part of a line from a traditional Celtic cure for the sprain, the full contents of which I cannot remember any more! But it comes from a pagan incantation to Brighid, a goddess of healing, and it was adapted into a prayer some time after the coming of Christianity. The Christian version is still used to this day by folk healers in parts of Ireland and Scotland.
