There isn't a meaning, like in the dictionary or anything. Instead this was one of the landmark decisions that helped in the Civil Rights Movement. There was a time in America when Whites and African Americans could not go to the same school, and the African American schools had much worse supplies. Many parents from different states filed lawsuits that went all the way to the Supreme Court, where, in a vote of nine to zero, they also found it was unfair to have segregation. Even though it took some states many years to apply this, Whites and African Americans where allowed to go to the same school finally.
