What does communism seek to do?

To have a large, central government who is in charge of everything. Its people are supposed to toil for the common good of all in a classless society (supposed to be classless, but corruption always seeps in) and to have the government dole out whatever subsistence they see fit. No more wealth or private property. Big, central government wants all the wealth and power, and the meek, well-behaved and unarmed citizens have little say in the matter.

Big Government knows best and will take care of you. They promise!

Does this sound like a place you want to live in? Kind of like a giant low-income housing project, except with no hope or opportunity to move on to better things...
