A very sharp smelling and bitter solvent. The smell is similar to petrol, but much more of a smell that punches you in the back of the throat. Performed an experiment with cyclohexane today, the smell is very powerful and can make some sensitive people gag =D
Iodine is soluble in cyclohexane. 'like' dissolves 'like' (i.e. non-polar dissolves non-polar) Iodine is non-polar as both atoms of iodine have the same electronegativities Cyclohexane is non-polar due to its symmetric structure Therefore iodine does dissolve in cyclohexane
Cyclohexane is flammable.
No, sodium chloride is not soluble in cyclohexane.
Solid non-polar substances such as paraffin can be dissolved by non-polar solvents such as cyclohexane.
Cyclohexane (C6H12) is a cycloalkane, not an esther.
Cyclohexane has no charge. It is a compound, not an ion.
No, cyclohexane is a neutral compound.
water is polar and the cyclohexane is not
yes like disolve slikje. both are non polar substances as cyclohexane is a natural substance. I2 has equal distribution of e- on both sides.
Cyclohexane contains only covalent bonds.
yes, at STP, as the change in gibbs free energy is negaitve for all cases. however, the mixing does require heat input to stay isothermal, as heat is required to break the hydrogen bonding of ethanol by cyclohexane
In cyclohexane molecule are the bonds are covalent (sigma) bonds.
