Not a lot.
Nothing. Makes the engine rev higher.
While driving my cavalier will shift into high gear for at least a couple of minutes. Shifting gears, giving it gas does not help. Any suggestions?
if you want to go fast, then you change gear at redline. if you are driving normally usually 2-3k
the second gear start switch is for ice or wet conditions. Tthe car starts in second which makes it easier to not spin the wheels giving you better traction NOT FOR NORMAL DRIVING OR PROLONGED DRIVING use it only when you need it I think it is when you step on the gas, the car doesn't go forward until it is in second gear. Good for wet or slippery roads.
The drive gear will turn faster. If the driving gear was twice the size of the drive gear, the drive gear would rotate twice for every revolution of the said driving gear.
The overdrive. Try driving it with the overdrive off.
Common cars can't do highway speeds (65 mph) in first gear and many have rev limiters.
it is for normal driving it allows the transmission to work normally 2 will not let the transmission shift up from second gear and l will keep it in low gear
a noisy second gear in your transmission is that your second gear might have broken gear tooth which is mostly the problem with my cars.either the second gear on the counter gear or the second gear itself.
For second gear about 1500 rpm is easy on the engine. 2100 rpm is good for third gear when you are driving around the city. This varies depending on your car's specifications and how powerful it is.
You're not shifting up 'two' gears into second, you're shifting up 'one full click' Neutral is a half click above 1st, and second is a full click. So when driving and you're in first, one full click (shift) will put you in second - not two.
When you start out in first gear on a slippery surface, the high torque from the gear multiplication makes the road wheels slip easily. With second gear start activated (or using the 2 position on Ford or Kia vehicles), the gear ratio is different. Now the slippage tends to occur in the torque converter before the road wheels slip.Be sure to switch off the second gear start when you have good pavement. Otherwise, you can overheat the transmission.I have been using this for winter driving since 1994.Note that the 2 position on GM, Chrysler, and Hyundai vehicles does NOT prevent the car from starting in first gear.
