That means that you haven't got the car in any gear and your just coasting. Technically you'll use less fuel but then again you'll slow down to the point you'll have to put it back in gear and probably work up the gears again so you probably won't save any at all.
Try the emergency break, also throw it in neautral or with a standard downshift
