Footer is text at the bottom of the page. It is important for footnotes or page numbers or other professional features. To insert a footer

1) Double click in the area below the text at the bottom of the page

2) Go to insert>headers and footers>footer (in word 2007: insert tab>footer)

To insert a footnote, go to (word 2007) references>insert footnote

The footer is where you put your name/date/class period. It is usually found at the bottom of your Document's page. There are different footer types to choose from. Make sure you pick the correct footerthat you need.
