Footer is text at the bottom of the page. It is important for footnotes or page numbers or other professional features. To insert a footer
1) Double click in the area below the text at the bottom of the page
2) Go to insert>headers and footers>footer (in word 2007: insert tab>footer)
To insert a footnote, go to (word 2007) references>insert footnote

Header is the area at the top of the pages. Footer is the area at the bottom of the pages.
Click the Insert tab then look for Header & Footer Group.
Microsoft Word is a word processing program that was written by the Microsoft corporation. Since the inception of Microsoft Word, there have been many updates and changes.
Double click the header (or footer) to open it for editing, select all (Ctrl + a) Delete. Close the header/footer, save.
In Microsoft Word 2007 and 2010, select Insert from the ribbon. You will see the Header and Footer options on the right-hand-side of the menu. There you will be able to modify your current document's header and footer.
