Religiously speaking, "good news" comes off as the word "gospel"... which is somewhat of a goofy word that conveys a certain amount of "religious ambiguity" to a lot of people... and is just plain meaningless to others.

A great number of people don't know what it means [good news], and use it in a number of erroneous ways. Some think "gospel" means "Truth"; saying, "I'm speakin' gospel." [I'm speakin' good news?]

Some refer to their religious musical renditions as "Gospel Music." [good news music?]

The first four books of the New Testament, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, have come to be known by many as "the four gospels." [the four good newses?]

Generally speaking... "gospel" is probably mostly just thought of as different "stories about Jesus Christ."

Biblically speaking [all religion aside]... "good news" [gospel] means the same thing that it does in real life. It's "happy news." It's "glad tidings." It's "something that you hear about that brings joy and happiness to your heart."

Biblically speaking... t's the "message" that Jesus preached... and which is the underlying promise of the Bible -- the "wonderful promise of the Government of God taking over the rulership of the earth" at the conclusion of man's allotted time that God gave to him in the beginning.

It's the "good news" Jesus began His earthly ministry with: "...Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the GOSPEL of the Kingdom of God, and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel." (Mark 1:14-15)

Believe the good news -- God's Government is coming!

It's not a "religious" message at all... really. It has nothing to do with "religion."

"...unto us a Son is given: and the Government shall be upon His shoulder... Of the increase of His Government and Peace there shall be no end..." (Isa.9:6-7).

There is nothing "religious" about "government and world peace."

A fair, just and righteous government, and world peace is what every nation on earth wants! And if there were such a government... and if there were world peace -- that would be the best news and the most joyous tidings anyone in the world could imagine.

Nor would it be regarded as "religious."

Unfortunately... ignorant men of a religious bent got a hold of the word "gospel" and turned it into what most religions are -- so much meaningless religious fluff and confusion that no one understands.

As "good news" is used in the Bible, however... it's a joyous tiding of Promise and Hope for the future. It's the inspired revelation from God that "man's time of rule on earth is only for a short time" [thank God]. It's the looking forward to the Day when all of man's self-centered, bickering, warring governments will be smashed by the hand of God and removed by His mighty Power and Glory that all of the nations will finally understand.

So, religiously speaking... "good news" can mean a whole raft of different things to different people.

But, biblically speaking... it means the hope-filled promise of the end of the errant rulership of man's governments on earth for evermore. That means worldwide Peace... which has nothing to do with "religion."

"...the seventh angel sounded [the prophesied seventh and 'last trump' of God that signals Jesus' return to earth]; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ; and HE SHALL REIGN FOR EVER and EVER." (Rev.11:15)

To many "religious" people who read those words... it's neither "good news"... nor is it "believable." Many don't even know this "good news" is in the Bible.

To others... it's wonderful, fabulous, "good news" from man's Creator that elicits Joy and Hope in their hearts for an awesome, unimaginable future in God's Family, throughout Eternity.
