I think that orange juice will be better because even though it is highly acidic, milk causes the plant to grow bacteria which will kill the plant quickly.
Milk will go bad if mixed with an acidic liquid such as lemon juice, lime juice or vinegar.
May be limited plant are able in this system. A plant is called in Hindi Khiri requires milk. Then, why not orange juice syrup. I shall do experiment.
Water will make a better plant.
