How much does it cost to send a padded envelope to canada weighing 9 ounces
, Could you please tell me how much postage I would need to mail a large envelope weighing 4.3 OZ to the UK?
The first ounce will cost 44 cents. Each additional ounce, or fraction, is another 17 ounces. That would be 78 cents for that envelope at the start of 2011.
Take your envelope to the Post Office and they will weight it, and give you your answer as the cost of mailing anything is done by weight.
For the first ounce it will be 88 cents. There is an additional charge for the larger size. Each additional ounce is 17 cents.
From May 2009 to late 2011 in the US, the one-ounce first class rate was 44 cents. The rate for a second ounce was only 17 cents, for a total of 61 cents. (Assuming that the letter is neither a large envelope or a thick envelope, which are charged at different base rates.) Major mailers were eligible for reduced rates for pieces between 1 and 2 ounces when they included a return reply envelope.

It is impossible to answer this question without knowing the origin and destination of the item to be sent, much less what kind of insurance and/or other custom services, such as obtaining the recipient's signature, might be required.
As long as the envelope doesn't weigh too much (If you're just mailing paper, then it probably doesn't) then no it doesn't cost more.
As of 2016, a 2.5 ounce envelope it would cost 93 cents (one Forever stamp plus two extra ounces).
