Since you are SURE you paid, you have nothing to fear from a lawsuit because you can present your proof as evidence. If they violate the cease and desist by continuing to call or write, you have grounds to sue them under the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, as well as any applicable state laws. In actual fact, you probably have grounds right now to sue them for attempting to collect a debt which they have no legal right to pursue, but that's shakier.
