What does it mean if a friend calls you a sister?

Hmmm.... This could mean two different things really... And there is no way for me to further analyze the situation unless this case belongs to me.....

This could mean that the guy really sees you as a sister and do not want to have a more intimate relationship with you. Id this is the case, there is really no need for you to read between the lines as he means what he says.

On the other hand, this could mean it's exact opposite. It is really up to the girl to read the signs and see what the guy really means.

Most guys, as we are aware, are insecure and do not take rejection easily. They find it hard to express their feelings (I am not saying that every guy acts this way okay?) and sometimes ends up saying the exact opposite of what they mean.

If this is the case then if he calls a woman sister it could be because he do not want you to see that he likes you as more than just a sister because he fears that you don't feel the same way about him. If he is this kind of man then it is up to you to save him as most of the time men don't really know what they want.

Another explanation would be that he doesn't mean anything about it at all. I am not sure how to expound this one so let me give you an example. Let us say that you and him are friends or a member of the same organization. In an organization, its members treats each other like a family (brothers and sisters) so if he calls you a sister in this scenario it is probably because that is what everyone calls you in your circle of friends. :)

Maybe an attempted use of slang that the boy does not fully understand. Maybe the boy does not understand familial relationships. Maybe the boy does not have a better word. I believe this is all factor of family lineage or a family tree where alot of people believe we are all related some way and so people call each other brother or sister. Other than that, perhaps it is just how they socialize.

I think it means that they have high respect for you, bringing your friendship to a new level. Being that close to a friend to be called sister is an honor. I have a few friends how call me their older sister, so, heh, I would know. Mostly, just think of it as they're way of being closer to you, being there when you need them to be on a whole new level.

They really want to bring the friendship to a new level, and they really think that you are close. Very close. Like sisters.
