In many older full size station wagons (8 to 12 passengers) and many full size pickup trucks and Vans the distance between the transmission output shaft and the rear axle was so great that a one piece drive shaft would bend and distort under power, causing vibration and early failure. To handle this problem they invented the "split drive shaft" which consisted of two complete drive shafts coupled by a 'carrier bearing' that was hung from a frame cross member, somewhere between the transmission and the rear end. The only other meaning of "split drive shaft" would be that the shaft was split or broken lengthwise or otherwise broken, in which case engine power could not be transmitted to the rear wheels.
Yes.
Replace the half shaft.
If the "knocking" sound is a heavy clicking sound when turning, and if the vehicle is front-wheel-drive, you probably have a worn CV joint, often referred to as a half-shaft. This problem can sometimes be temporarily corrected by repacking the joint with grease and replacing the rubber CV boot which is probably torn. Usually, however, it is best to replace the shaft since it is necessary to remove it to replace the boot anyway, and this constitutes most of the labor. On the other hand you can do a bit of a cheat by cutting off the old boot, repacking the joint with grease, and re-covering it with a special split boot that does not require removal of the shaft. A CV joint (Constant Velocity Joint) is the equivalent of a Universal Joint in the drive shaft of a rear-wheel-drive vehicle.
Most shaft gaiters are available in a two part kit. The two halves are placed around the shaft and then glued together. I was astounded when my garage replaced a split gaiter in about ten minutes, after I had spend days trying to find a special tool to stretch the gaiter over the end of the shaft !!
The BMW vehicle models with the XDrive four wheel drive are BMWX1, BMWX6 and the newest, BMWX1 sport utility vehicles. The XDrive vehicle has a multi-plate that adjusts the torque split between front and rear axles.
no it will not drive, and you risk ruining your transmission if you attempt to drive.
If you want to trim split ends high up on the hair shaft then you must cut your hair short enough to where the split end is gone. There are also some hair treatments for this.
greenstick fracture
Highly you might die
Left front.
Faber Drive is still currently active as a band.
i am a ford tech. i believe on the driver side rear under bed..i don't think it's a split tank so u shouldn't have to drop the drive shaft..drop the tank and its on top of tank..good luck
