- It is never too late to learn good communication skills and when your ex girlfriend said she want to be with you, but just can't right now you should have asked her why. It is possible she may not feel that you have changed enough or neither of you have matured enough to get back together or, she may have other reasons such as getting a good education; finding a job or perhaps traveling. Do yourself a favor and get in touch with her and ask what her reason is.
