It means the engine has developed serious, costly problems.
Assuming the dipstick is metal - you could try using a magnet on a string to attempt to capture it.
You can purchase a dipstick from the dealer.
Generally between the engine and firewall, on the passenger side. For a 1980's Chevy, look for a round, closed metal loop low and near the distributor (again, on the back of the motor). The oil dipstick generally had a tee handle or an open metal loop on the driver's side of the engine.
I just wonder about the mean metal temp 1. Is it the same LMTD? 2. If 1. is no,How to cal/find the mean metal temp? Thanks for your answer YNM
do you mean transmission dipstick? if so, between the transmissin case and the front cylinder head. it has a small ball at the top and spring metal clip.
It's located on the right side of the engine compartment in the front. It's a skinny little metal stick. Hope you find it!
Means that you are losing oil somewhere, or are burning it. Check it more often, or find the problem.
The dipstick is a special tool that only the dealer has.
It doesn't have a dipstick for the automatic transmission.
wher can i finid my dipstick for my tranmision on my 2003 saturan ion it could have a sealed transmission and have no dipstick
Through your dipstick tube. The dipstick tube is fairly hard to find. It is behind the engine on the driver's side way down low. Look for a square yellow top. The dipstick is held in place by a metal leaf-type spring. Make sure the spring snaps back into place when you replace the dipstick. Also, because the dipstick tube is down so low, you will need a long funnel or funnel with a hose to add the fluid. IPD stocks a good one.
Where do I find the dipstick tube? Through the dipstick tube
