Sometimes dreams aren't symbolic--they're just speaking plain English. Do you feel sorry for the dog? was it your dog or a found dog? if it was yours, why did it go to the pound? could it be that you feel guilty about it?
if you think it's symbolic, maybe it represents someone you've pushed out of your life. are the dreams affirming that getting rid of the dog was the right thing? maybe you should move on from that relationship, get over it. or the wrong thing? maybe you should patch it up with them.
