Unwashed eggs from the farm have a very effective natural coating applied by the hens oviduct as it emerges from the vent. If this natural coating is not washed off the egg is well protected from contaminants and will remain fresher, longer. Eggs from a mass producer are washed and re coated with a mineral oil substance which attempts to replace the natural coating. Both can add a waxy, sticky feel to a fresh egg.

What does chicken-versus-egg mean?

I think it means this:"Which came first, chicken or egg?".

Who came first egg or chicken scientifically?

The egg, 1st of all because there were eggs long before birds, but if you mean a chicken's egg then it is still the egg. This is because when a new species evolves, the egg is say, given birth to a sub-chicken, and the new species (chicken) is inside the egg, which is techically now a chicken's egg.

What does it mean to argue the chicken-or-egg?

which came first, the chicken or the egg? it kind of means, like, asking an unsolvable question. or it could mean simply, arguing that question. the chicken came first though, God created the chicken, which lays the eggs... just saying ;)

Was it the chicken or the egg?

It all depends on the question. If you mean, which comes first, then, according to all scientific knowledge on evolution, the egg came first. There had to be a progenitor species that laid an egg. And that egg incurred a small mutation that resulted in a new species equivalent to the chicken. Then, the new chicken species hatched from the egg.
