It is in a man's nature to talk about women whether it is a woman on the street or a celebrity on tv. It is though disrespectful for him to do this in front of you. Tell him about or accept it, because honey all men fantasize about something they can't have.
Talking about other girls in front of you is a bit insensitive , but maybe he isn't old enough to know how much a lot of women dislike this. And a casual remark should not make you feel so insecure. Talk about it, loosely define your relationship, then ask him if he could possibly confine this sort of chat to his buddies, as it is of no interest to you, and makes you uncomfortable.

1) That she thinks of you as a friend and she sees you as a friend figure and not a boyfriend figure.
2) She is trying to skid aroud the ice and come off as "I dont like you im just going to tric you into thinking that i dont like you."
but it is most likely the first one
