He could be feeling a bit sad and lonely about breaking up, he may still want to be with you, but doesn't want to initiate it unless you don't feel the same way. You could talk to him but it may scare him off, or you two could just remain friends, and if anything else develops over time then so be it.

Well it doesn't necessarily mean that he wants you back although he might. It could just mean that he wants to know how your doing and whats new with you. He might feel bad about the break up and wants to know how your holding up. :)

I totally Feel you. This happens to me all the time with my ex. I would remind yourself of how you are too good for him everytime he calls or texts. Or give him a good breakup ringtone that helps you (I recommend "picture to burn") but stay strong and know there is someone else out there
