i dont know, but i did it and my computer got jacked up, my dad had to do all this stuff and it still tells me it

I have a comma saying updates are ready for this computer but they usually install themself could this be a virus?
Probably not, though it might be. There are some updates that will require user intervention to install usually you will be prompted as you shut down to install updates and shutdown
