What reasonible accomidations are made for handicapped in county jail?
Access to work areas as necessary, recreation areas as necessary, to restroom facilities, phones (as necessary), access to reasonable health care... pretty much access to whatever any other inmate has access to. A handicapped inmate isn't going to receive special treatment or special meals or anything, unless there is an extremely compelling reason as to why they should. For example, if you are a diabetic, the detention facility will certainly provide you with a diet you can live with. You aren't required to like it, by the way, just live with it. It's doubtful an inmate would be provided with something like crutches, for example, because they are such a security risk, but certainly a wheelchair would be provided if necessary. Some things they don't provide are special mattresses (even if you do have a back injury), special exercise accommodations like lap pools, or special privileges. Most things are taken at a case-by-case basis. Remember, they are not in the business of making you like it, just making it so you can live with it.
