This whinning noise is completely normal. This sound is produced by the supercharger when it is producing boost. I have a 2003 gtp and it does the same as well as any other supercharged engine. Suggestion from 00gtp Put a K&N cold air intake on and everyone will hear the whine. Sounds cool and it really makes people look.
What makes a supercharger squeal like a bearing is going out
If you're new to a supercharged car then you're most likely hearing the normal whine that a supercharger makes. They will whine louder the more you accelerate. 00gtp
Wynjammer is about the only company that makes a supercharger for the chevy 4.3L. It's a belt driven turbo style supercharger like a Vortech instead of a roots type supercharger like an Eaton or Whipple.
when warmed up high pitch noise at idle and it gets louder during acceleration Response to : Can someone actually answer this question? This is my question and the above answer makes no sense.
It could be low on power steering fluid. That is a common problem. It makes a sharp whining noise when you turn the steering wheel.
A supercharger is a group of products that add significant horsepower to your vehicle. Generally they are after market modifications, and can be very expensive depending on the type and impact the supercharger makes.
Weiand makes the best superchargers.
it is the idler pully. i just replaced mine and all the whining stopped
Yes! Thomas Knight at boosthead.com makes a supercharger for the LS. It's a real pulley driven unit.
Yes. If the engine is built to handle enough boost. Volkswagen makes a production car with a twincharger (supercharger and turbocharger). The supercharger helps cancel out the turbo lag at low rpms
It is probably the alternator that is whining - and not charging so you have run out of battery power and it won't turn over.
