It could be the supercharger snout itselft. I just replaced mine because it was making a sort of knocking noise. I started out just hearing it at start up and turning it off. Mine runs like a champ now along with a smaller pulley and an exhaust job.
When does it make a tapping noise? When your !) braking and turning wheel B) braking c) engine idling D) starting engine E) turning. I mean it just all depends....
Its the supercharger which forces more air into the engine making the car go much faster.
The electric supercharger is supposed increase horsepower by the fact that it pumps compressed air to your engine making a real increase in horsepower unlike others.
The most common and normal signs will be: * Oil leakage from the supercharger * Supercharger making a knocking noise * Lower or no boost pressure * Oil not present inside the supercharger
Most likely your idle control solenoid is acting up making your engine run at too high of an Idle, the solenoid is stuck in hi instead of idling down when the gnition is turned off.
I'm no mechanic but i think i had the same problem. first off i would check all the pulleys and belts on the engine. assuming you already did this . it could be your rotor pack in the supercharger or it could be the nose drive. you can check your nose drive by taking it off the supercharger and inspecting it by turning the pulley. if everything is tight and no worn bearing sound is heard it could very well be your rotor pack. assuming it is the rotor pack, c a mechanic. It could be your supercharger coupler. the stock ones wear out very quickly. _____________________________________________ Make sure it's not your air-conditioning compressor making the noise. Sometimes the compressor makes a rattling noise and standing there listening to it, it does sound like it's coming from the SC.
a turbocharger. unless you are comparing a turbo kit to DIY supercharging. See what is available for your car. Turbo kits are more elaborate, but if you cant find a supercharger kit, you will have an easier time buying and installing the turbo kit that making a supercharger setup yourself.
It might be the supercharger going bad. The supercharger has a little coupler that is located in between the supercharger nose and the main body. This coupler is located inside and once it starts to wear out it will start making a clunk sound. You can replace the coupler, replace the nose, or rebuild the whole supercharger. Clutch throw out bearing bad.
Nothing realy.. with the choke on the engine receives more fuel making it easier to run with a cold motor. after starting the engine, wait about two minutes before turning it off.
If your supercharger is an Eaton type supercharger and it is making noise that is an early indication that the supercharger might need a rebuild. A lot of times the noise is actually coming from a little coupler that is located in the inside of the supercharger. This coupler has 6 holes in it and over time these rounded holes will wear out and become an oval shape. Once it becomes oval shape the supercharger will start to make a rattle sound. If left untreated the rattle will lead to the bearings going bad and then the seals. You will then need to get a complete rebuilt done on the supercharger. The coupler is easy to replace. You basically have to take the supercharger noise off with the 6 bolts that holds it and then once the two ends pull a part the coupler will be sitting right there. Just slide the coupler off of the pins and replace it. Then slide the two ends together and bolt it back up. You will also need to refill the supercharger with oil.
It sounds very much lke you have a leaking vacuum hose. Either it has deteriorated and needs replacing or it has come off its fitting. Carefully check the engine compartment in an effort to locate the source of the hissing sound. When you do repair or replace the hose you will probably cure the source of your idling (and hihssing) problem(s).
