You would bleed after intercourse if you were a virgin. Any bleeding done after the fact, should be seen by a doctor. It can also mean that he was too rough with you, and needs to be more gentler.

EDIT: The hymen doesn't actually close off the vagina. If it did, how would menstrual blood get out? It's just a fold of membrane and does NOT have to be damaged during sex! If you bleed, it only means your partner was too rough. I didn't bleed at all.
