it normally means there worn and could do with replacing, however mine have been noisy for 3 years, my partner who's a mechanic never does any thing on my car unless he has to, so when he changes the oil he puts a bottle of STP oil treatment in with the oil. this tends to make it a lot quieter. good luck
Is it a big problem to have noisy tappets in your engine?
Diesels are normally noisy anyway - are you sure it your valve tappets? If so, they could be out of adjustment. Take it to a shop and have them checked and adjusted.
easy--change them
There could be several reasons why you have a noisy hydraulic valve lifter. One reason could be worn our parts in the entire valve train. A loose rocker arm could also cause noise.
If the hydraulic lifters are making noise they shouldn't be making, then there's probably more to it, and it's likely a problem which should be covered under such a warranty.
if your mitsu grandis tappets are noisy, tek tek tek especially on idle change oil and filter and add pro-ma mbl8. mine was noisy and it went away like magic make sure you change filter could also be low pressure to lifters. I still have a black exhaust problem .... will sort it and post blog
That is a Kohler Command single cylinder, so 10W30 is the answer. It will run either, but the hydraulic lifters will be noisy
That is normal. As long as everything goes away after a few mins. The 6g72 that is in most of the 3000gt s are known for being noisy, but has a limit. During normal operation there will be tapping, sounds a lot like a sewing machine.
There is no valve adjustment on the 2.4 litre 4G64 engine as it has hydraulic lifters fitted, if they are noisy then there are oil additives to clean them or they may need replacing.
HLA,S hydraulic lash adjusters carbon build up make sure oil level is right may have to have rockers replaced
A noisy noise annoys a noisy oyster.
The ford falcon 6cyl engines have small hydraulic lifters often reffered to as tappets. They are about 2.5cm long cylinder about 10mm in diameter these are located under the overhead camshaft rocker arms and directly act on the valve stems. they are self adjusting also, once they are outside their specified bleed down rate, they will have to be renewed as they will become noisy and lead to a distinctive tick tick tick noise in time with the revs especially when cold often associated with high mileage engines, especially falcon engines.
