There are 3 different answers to this question depending on the situation
Either your beardie is basking, having their mouths open is their way of cooling down much like a dog pants or a bird spreads it's wings.
Or your beardie is angry or scared, you can also watch for colouring here, the beard and tail will go black
Or your beardie is sick and may need a vet, look for other signs of illness such as being lethargic and not eating
Bearded dragons open their mouth widely if they are too warm. this is called "basking". when they reach a certain body temperature, they open their mouths to cool them down. note: this does NOT mean you are doing anything wrong, or that the lighting is incorrect, it is perfectly natural, so dont worry. i would suggest for a few minutes everyday just to open the doors of his vivarium to give him/her some fresh air and to circulate his breathing. There are several causes. One, she might be hissing as a sighn of aggression. Two, she's probably basking and releasing heat (like we sweat and dogs pant) and three, her jaw is broken, and should be taken to a vet.
