The vehicle speed sensor is a common failiure of this symptom. It is located on the gear box, often just un-plugging it will cure the problem
The Brake booster needs replaced
I would first check and see if your brake lights come on when you depress your brake pedal. If not, the problem is your brake light sensor located under the pedal. These allow you to switch out of park (which is why you have to push the brake to do so). It's common for them to go out.
The power brake booster is leaking vacuum.
Either your gears are not locking at the start or you are in park or neutral or emergency brake on.
throttle plate stuck? I'm not sure. When I'm driving, I take my foot off the gas and the car jerks and when I have to stop and I push on the brakes the car revs and jerks forward and occasionally stalls
I would say your power brake booster is shot.

The engine revs and car doesn't move.
There are several reasons why your car may be overheating. Check the thermostat to be sure it isn't stuck. If the car revs up and down, the timing may need to be adjusted.
