It probably means that he wants to use you for things his girlfriend wont do, or he wants to be a player and have two girlfriends by making you feel that it is ok.

Sounds to me that he wants to be able to keep you in arms length. Sounds to me ( cause its happened before ) that he may be seeing someone else and wants to keep you in the back burner just in case that doesnt work out. I would confront him and say, its me or leave me alone. He has to make a decision its not fair to string you along.

in my opinion edward does. he has Bella in the beginning. then when he leaves her she doesnt stop thinking about him and would take him back in a heart beat. Jacob helps Bella in the middle and wants a relationship with her but she wont give it to him. then when edward does comes back in the end Bella goes to him in a heartbeat and tells Jacob he should leave at the very end. so in my opinion edward wins the whole entire movie of New Moon.
