Space would smell like nothing, that is if you could survive there and try to breath. A human wouldn't live too long in the vacuum of space, not just because you couldn't breath, but the zero pressure on your body would cause your blood to boil and several parts would explode. Not too healthy I must say!
The reason you couldn't smell anything is -- smell involves molecules floating in the air which pass over cells in your sinuses that sense smell. There is no air in space nor molecules floating around. At least not in enough quantity to be noticed. Answer: dont know go there exhail your breath and then take a big wiff lol. I can't say i fully agree with some of the statements above. I watch the show Manswers, a semi-immature show where men ask questions and they get answers (the questions range from "do fake boobs float?" to "how much can you drink before you die?") one of the questions was how long would a person last in space. the aproximate time i believe was 80 to 100 seconds. i never heard of body parts exploding or blood boiling. i do know however, that the vaccum would obviously make you suffocate. the air molecules is correct. there is no smell, just like there is no sound. smells and sounds rely on air molecules to travel, just like certain seeds rely on wind to travel. so to put my answer in one sentence. Living creatures (at least on earth) are not capable of "smelling" space, if there is any smell to begin with
Smell is irrelevant when in a vacuum (empty space).
Like nothing because there is no air in space to carry the scent
It will smell like the inside of your space helmet. If you were to remove your helmet, it would smell like nothing at all, as you died of anoxia and explosive decompression. We've never been to the Kuiper belt, and at the current rate, aren't likely to get there for another couple of centuries. When we bring space rocks from the Kuiper belt aboard our spacecraft, they are likely to smell a little like ammonia and formaldehyde, two hydrocarbon chemicals which have been detected in comets and in clouds in space.
Space has no smell. It is literally nothing.
