The law sets up the structure and framework by which the government operates. It also sets up certain rules which we all must use to interact with each other, and creates a system by which we can seek to be made whole when we are wronged by another person.
In short, it creates an organize society. Without law, we would exist in anarchy.
It brings stability and order to society, and the sense that all persons are required to meet the same requirements for behavior and will be treated equally.
