Often times people just need to know that someone cares and is there for them. A warm blanket and a listening ear can make all the difference in the world. It can give the person hope by making them feel that they are not alone and that there are people who do care.

To become a trauma nurse there are a number of things that need to be completed before you can start. First you need to be a registered nurse. In order to get this title there are three different paths that one can choose from. First is a Bachelor in Science Degree in Nursing which is usually a four year program, this one is usually preferred by most institutions and sometimes recommended, an associates degree in nursing which takes around two years to complete, or a diploma.

Having any of these three titles gives one a good starting position to becoming a trauma nurse. When entering the training status one is expected to have good knowledge of the nursing field and to be familiar with the emergency equipment. Another requirement is experience in the emergency care unit and understanding of the terminology.

Once you become a trauma nurse your responsibilities consist of being the first person to the emergency and making important decisions based on the patients condition. They must monitor the patients and inform the doctor of their status. Also you would need to prepare any equipment needed by the doctor to help save the patients life so the doctor can have his full attention on the victim.
