YES IT DOES but if your guitar starts off with metal strings keep to metal strings.if you start to use nilon your guitar neck will eventuly weaken. if your guitar starts off with nilon strings NEVER EVER put metal strings on on it. your guitar neck will not be able to widstand the presure and your neck will sink there for stuffing your guitar.

Can you start out with an electric guitar or an acoustic guitar?

electric for two main reasons: easier to play you can get thinner strings which are easier on your fingers , the necks tend to be thinner as well so if you don't have big hands this makes things easier to start. You can lower the strings closer to the neck very easily on an electric as well. they are also quieter if you live in an apartment or noise is an issue lets face it none of us are Van Halen or Yngwie Malmsteen good the first year or two learn guitar tabliture fast and scales really do help

How much does a guitar cost if it is not electric?

Wether the guitar is electric or acoustic, the value of it depends on several factors. Mainly it is the brand, if it's an original Gibson, Ovation, Ibanez, Fender or Epiphone, just to name a few, it may cost more than a cheaper knock-off or some poorly designed guitar. Other factors are if the guitar is a signature edition, if it had been used by someone famous or at a famous venue, if it has expensive hardware installed or a particular unique design. Keep this in mind... buying an acoustic guitar won't require any amplifiers, leads or effect pedals. You can store an acoustic guitar in a soft case and it will generally weigh less. This may make it a cheaper alternative as hard cases and electronics can be expensive.

Can you use an electric guitar with an acoustic amp?

Yes. You will always need to adjust the equalization on an amp to make it sound good to your ears. Turn down the mids a bit for starters, then play with the treble and bass. If the amp has a pre-gain, keep it lower than 5 (as a general rule) or it may distort.

Can you use acoustic guitar strings for acoustic electric?

using acoustic strings on an electric does not damage the guitar. tightening them too tight does. acoustic strings tend to be thicker than electric strings, so all you have to do is just tune lower to avoid putting too much stress on the neck. i just want to know why they use different materials to make them. ============ Answer No the strings are completely different. It would be much harder to play an electric even if for some reason you did put them on. And you definitely don't want to mix the two! ================ I'd be inclined to think that stringing thicker, shorter acoustic strings on an electric guitar would actually damage the electric guitar. It wasn't built to withstand that kind of string tension. The reverse can be done -- using electric strings on an acoustic guitar -- but you won't get a great deal of tone or attack. Great for a very easy-playing acoustic guitar for songwriting and low-volume playing, though.

How to choose an approptiate acoustic guitar microphone?

If your acoustic guitar isn’t capable of plugging into an amplifier or a PA System, you may have to resort to using a microphone. That’s OK. Pickups contained inside or mounted on guitars, horns, and pianos didn’t always exist. Some of the best acoustic guitar recordings were (and still are) recorded with MICROPHONES. This article will help you choose the best microphone for your acoustic guitar. Keep in mind that some of these microphones can be quite expensive.Acoustic GuitarsCondenser microphones are best used when applying a microphone to an acoustic guitar. The sound is generally superior to that of the pickup in an acoustic/electric guitar. The way the acoustic guitar is built is with certain types of wood, and bracing. These two aspects have a big influence on the sound of the instrument. The sound exits the guitar though the guitar’s sound hole. Under the saddle type pickups pick up the sound by picking up the vibrations. They do a decent job considering the source but it’s not equal to a good condenser microphone like the Groove Tubes GT55 which goes for about $180 USD or the Rode NT1A (about $230 USD). The reason you want a condenser microphone rather than a dynamic microphone is because condenser microphones reproduce high frequencies much better than dynamic microphones. You need that for acoustic instruments. You see people using a dynamic microphone like the Sure SM57 to mic guitar amps and that’s fine. Electric guitars don’t require the transient detail that acoustic guitars do. Most condenser microphones are fine when using them with an acoustic guitar.Microphone PlacementMost of your low end sound comes from the sound hole on your acoustic guitar. Most of the high end sound comes from the area of the 12th fret. It’s best to place your microphone about five inches away from the guitar in the area of the 12th fret. Experiment a bit by moving the microphone around a bit until you get your desired sound. If you want to send a stereo signal to the mixer or if you’re recording, place one microphone near the 12th fret as described above and another condenser microphone about five inches away near the bridge of the guitar. Pan one of them all the way to the left and the other all the way to the right. This should give you a great open and natural tone.See? You can do it and you don’t necessarily have to break the bank in the process. Peter and Paul from Peter, Paul, and Mary, James Taylor, Jim Croce, Cat Stevens, and John Denver just to name a few. Those are some of the best sounding acoustic guitar recordings in existence and it was all done with condenser microphones. Good luck.

Should you start on electric or electric guitar?

I'm guessing you mean electric or acoustic. A lot of people will tell you that you should start on an acoustic, but I disagree. I think that you should start to learn which one you would like to play, and would enjoy playing more. It would keep you interested more, and you will find it easier to improve. I have only ever played electric, and I think if I'd started by buying an acoustic, I would have given up not long after starting.
