  • Monocot and dicot are short for monocotyledon and dicotyledon. Mono- means one, and monocots have one cotyledon. Di- means two, and dicots have two cotyledons.

in monocot plant seed cannot be divided in to equal half eg:- rise, where as in dicot plant seed can be divided in to equal half eg:- wheat.
