What does motorstorg werkstatt mean when shown on a 2002 VW passat?

it means your break lights aren't warking..

Atleast that's what i had when that message came flashiong on my dashboard.

I had exactly the same problem and i confirm that my break lights weren't working because of a burnt fuse .The origin of the problem was the caravan plug that was oxidized .The result was the message "motorstorg werkstatt" on my dashboard and three warning lights : ABS,ESP and heating (a kind of spiral) . Even when a new fuse was set , these warnings kept on . It was because the breakdown was kept in the memory of the car . I had to call a specialist with a dedicated computer to erase these warnings .
