Answer:

Jesus referred to "His Father's House" as the Temple... which is a pattern of the Father's throne in heaven; the innermost sanctum of which was where the Ark of the Covenant was.

"...He drove them all out of the Temple... and said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not My Father's House an house of merchandise." (John 2:16)

A description of the Temple [the Father's House] in the book of Jeremiah reveals that it possessed "many mansions" [or chambers, or offices of varying degrees of power and authority].

"...I brought them into the House of the Lord, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan... which was by the chamber of the princes, which was above the chamber ofMaaseiah... the keeper of the door..." (Jer.35:4).

This is what Jesus meant by His Father's House having many mansions.

Jesus preached a continuous message during His ministry -- the coming of the "Kingdom of God" -- He, being its King. And He revealed in all His parables and prophecies, that God is calling His elect [His saints] to eventually "possess" and "co-rule the Kingdom" with Him when He finally establishes it on earth.

It's these "saints of the Most High" who will take possession of, and execute, all these various "many mansions" [chambers; offices] of Rulership, Judgment and Authority over the mortal nations of the world for a thousand years, when Jesus returns to earth.

"...ye which have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man shall sit in the throne of His Glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel." (Matt.19:28)

"...the saints of the Most High shall take the Kingdom, and possess the Kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever." (Dan.7:18)

"the Ancient of Days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the Most High; and the time came that the saints of the Most High possessed the Kingdom." (verse 22)

"Then shall the King say unto them on His right hand, Come, ye blessed of My Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world..." (Matt.25:34).

The religions of the world have glossed over these and other plain, yet, fabulous prophecies, passing them off as fables and myth. But these are the "mansions" Jesus promised to His disciples. The "mansions" in His Father's House; His Kingdom [offices of kings and priests] that Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Daniel, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, other names in God's Word, and so many others of Faith not mentioned down through the centuries who "believed" God's Word.

"...he that overcometh, and keepeth My works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron..." (Rev.2:26-27). These are the "mansions" in His Father's House.

"...for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God [the Father] by thy blood... and hast made us unto our God KINGS and PRIESTS: and WE SHALL REIGN ON THE EARTH." (Rev.5:9-10) These shall reign on earth from the "mansions" in His Father's House.

"...I saw thrones, and they [God's saints] sat upon them, and Judgment was given unto them... and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years... This is the First Resurrection. Blessed and Holy is he that hath part in the First Resurrection: on such the Second Death hath no power, but they shall be Priests of God [the Father] and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years." (Rev.20:4-6)

This is what Jesus means by the "many mansions" in His Father's House. It's the Truth of God's Word that this deceived world misunderstands, ignores and passes off as so much ethereal nonsense.

It's the wonderful, Divinely revealed future establishment and rulership of the Kingdom of God on earth by the "first generation" [the First-born Ruling Class generation at Jesus' coming, whom God has been calling] of the Family of God -- the good news message [gospel] that Jesus preached, and which the prophets of God wrote about -- which the world cannot see or believe.

"...we are the Children of God: and if Children, then Heirs; Heirs of God, and JOINT-HEIRS with Christ; if so that we suffer with Him, that we may be also Glorified together." (Rom.8:16-17)

God the Father is filling the many offices [many mansions] of His Kingdom with those Obedient and Faithful ones He's calling, and has been giving them to His Son to train and teach. And from those "mansions," when Jesus returns, they will, with the Power, Glory and Authority of God, teach the nations His ways.

"I have manifested Thy name unto the men which Thou gavest Me out of the world: Thine they were, and Thou gavest them Me; and they have kept Thy Word." (John 17:6)
