Nomex gloves are not made for every day use. They are often used by the military. They are not designed to resist heat but will not melt against the body.

Even though a good multi-layer racing suit usually meets the fire-protection standards of most sanctioning bodies, any racer who gives it any thought also wears Nomex underpants (either longjohns or boxers) and a Nomex undershirt as well as Nomex socks. Although the suit will protect the driver from flame, the heat of a fire will melt synthetic blended underwear to the skin and they would therefore need to be surgically removed - along with the skins they're adhered to. Not a pleasant thought at all. Hence the Nomex underwear.
