Ponyboy means that since he comes out the closet , and started to like Darry ( his brother ) , he should be the one that has more feelings .

On page 75, of "The Outsiders", when Pony says "I was suppose to be the deep one", he means that he was suppose to be the one that understood everything at a different level than everyone else. This time Johnny, could understand more better than what he could.
Ponyboy's done better in school and is thought of as the more academic one. He reads and writes, qualities often connected to being "deep." Therefore, he's surprised at Johnny's interpretation of the Frost poem.
