Zatō is a title, the lowest of the four official ranks within the Tōdōza, the historical guild for blind men. (Thus zato is also Japanese slang for a blind person.)
The word "ato" or 痕, can mean:
(noun) (1) trace; tracks; mark; sign; (2) (跡) remains; ruins; (3) scar.
The kanji, 痕, while usually pronounced "ato", can also be pronounced "kon", which means more along the lines of "scar".
Either pronunciations of the kanji are usually not standalone, rather they are part of a word. (Ex: 血痕, kekkon, meaning 'bloodstain' -- or -- 疵痕, kizuato, meaning 'scar' or 'wound mark')
MEANS: "Sugar"
