Answer
There were two versions of the Mil-24 Hind. The earlier ones had a large glass nose; the glass entended from the front back to the engine inlets and was framed. It had sliding doors that allowed it to carry men or cargo internally.
The later version, Mi-24D or "Hind-D", was designed more like a 2-man fighter with the gunner and pilot sitting in separate cockpits, which were covered by a bubble canopy.
Also, when the movie "Red Dawn" was released, the Hind-D was still hidden behind the Iron Curtain so they were hard to Photography. The helicopters used in this movie had fake noses installed and fake wings to make it look like the early model Hinds.
You should be able to find a photo of the Hind on the USAF Museum website.
that is a matter of opinion but my personal favourite is the MI24 Hind or the MI35 Havoc. It realy depends wether you want a small gunship or a large gunship. With big gunships i would have to go for the Hind or the Havoc but for small gunships, i like the AH-64 Apache or the KA-52 Alligator
