RSPCA stands for Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. It was established in the 19th century in England and Wales and is known to be as one of the oldest aid organizations. RSPCA, formerly known as the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is the biggest UK based charitable trust worldwide which is engaged in promoting the well being of animals.

The society started its work in 1824, after MP Richard Martin passed the anti cruelty bill for the safety of animals. The society later received notoriety when Queen Elizabeth extended support by becoming the benefactor of the organization. The society's main goal was to increase public awareness on the issue of animal abuse. The Society became well known after its outstanding work of by marking 200 convictions for breaching the Animal Cruelty Bill.

Later the society also established a committee who would inspect butchery houses where animals were likely to be mistreated. The most renowned work of the society was the implementation of the legislation for the protection of animal rights, namely amendments to the cruelty to the Animals Act of 1835.

The society has also established Wildlife centers which provide animal care at high risk. Charity shops are also established for raising funds.
