Roman Catholic AnswerThe Catholic religion was founded by Our Blessed Lord on the Apostle Peter (see St. Matthew's Gospel 16:17-19). It was then born from His Side as He hung dead on the Cross and was pierced by the soldier's lance. It was shown to the world fifty days later at Pentecost when Our Blessed Lord sent the Holy Spirit to guide it into all truth and preserve it until the end of the world. The Catholic religion teaches that there is no salvation outside the Church, which is the Mystical Body of Christ. That He came to save all men and established His Church to lead all people to salvation, to preach His Gospel, and to administer His Grace through the Sacraments He established. The Catholic Church is the only Church that teaches the Christian faith as Our Lord handed it to His Apostles, and told them to go out into all the world preaching the Good News, and baptizing them so that they could be saved. The beliefs of the Catholic religion are contained in the Nicene Creed, The Bible, and Sacred Tradition taught by the successors of the Apostles - the Bishops in union with the Holy Father, the successor of St. Peter, in Rome.
