it protects it from UV lights that can cause melanoma cancer
the sun produces 2 different kinds of light and one of them stays in earth for warmth
the other UV light is like a bad friend you cant get rid of it and by the time you do someone (the earths surface) is kind enough to brake you away but there are still parts of it with you (someof the UV light is absorbed into earth and that is why we get melanoma sometimes) the thing that there is a lot more complicated things to do with this and one is global warming but that's another question
Thermosphere, it is also the atmosphere with the highest temperatures.
the atmosphere
the earths surface.
trophosphere

When it rains or snows.
to protect us from the sun's harmful rays
About 50% of the sun's radiation that reaches Earth's atmosphere is absorbed by the Earth's surface. The remaining energy is either reflected back to space or absorbed by the atmosphere.
rain
Where on earth surface does most precipitation fall
The layer closest to the Earth's surface is the troposphere. It contains most of the atmosphere's mass and is where weather events occur.
Gravity.
