You should probably just read the Revelation. It's not that long. The verse you're probably looking for is around Revelation 6:6; however, when reading it, you should keep inflation in mind. Some translations have "a loaf of bread for a penny", but these were translated when a penny was actually a lot of money... around a day's wages for a typical worker.

Answer:

In Deuteronomy 28 is a litany of blessings and curses that automatically follow God's Children throughout their generations. Blessings are the automatic result of "obedience to God's Commandments"... and curses result from "disobedience."

"All these curses will come upon you. They will pursue you and overtake you until you are destroyed, because you did not obey the LORD your God and observe the commands and decrees He gave to you. They will be a sign and a wonder to you and YOUR DESCENDANTS FOREVER.

"Because you did not serve the LORD your God joyfully and gladly in the time of prosperity, therefore in hungerand thirst, in nakedness and dire poverty, you will serve the enemies the LORD sends against you. He will put an iron yoke on your neck until He has destroyed you." (Deut.28:45-48 NIV)

Read the Deuteronomy 28 "prophecy," to know and understand what truly makes a nation great -- and truly know and understand WHAT DESTROYS A NATION.

This prophecy extends throughout the generations... meaning, right up to the time when the Messiah comes with the Kingdom of God, or the Last Days.

From the beginning of her existence, America has been blessed with land rich in arable soil and Natural Resources... whereby she has enjoyed an unprecedented "time of prosperity" above all the nations on earth. But that time of prosperity that the Lord has given her is passing away... for the reason given in Deut.28:47.

It is the last days, and the prophecy follows the nations in the world blessed by God into them. And the curses named, then... follow the generations, today. Especially the one to which the above question inquires.

"...Because of the suffering that your enemy will inflict on you during the siege, you will eat the fruit of the womb, the flesh of the sons and daughters the LORD your God has given you.

"Even the most gentle and sensitive man among you will have no compassion on his own brother or the wife he loves or his surviving children, and he will not give to one of them any of the flesh of his children that he is eating...

"...The most gentle and sensitive woman among you -- so sensitive and gentle that she would not venture to touch the ground with the sole of her foot -- will begrudge the husband she loves and her own son or daughter the afterbirth from her womb and the children she bears. For she intends to eat them secretly during the siege and in the distress that your enemies will inflict on you in your cities.

"If you do not carefully follow the words of this law, which are written in this Book, and do not revere this glorious and awesome name -- the LORD your God -- the LORD will send fearful plagues on you and your descendants, harsh and prolonged disasters, and severe and lingering illnesses." (Deut.28:53-59 NIV)

Famine, hunger and cannibalism is nothing new in the world... and history records fulfillments of the above prophecy amid the sieges on Jerusalem. But the generations lived on... and the prophecies persist... and the end times will see them fulfilled again and again, right into the Last Days.

The passage in Revelation, cited above, aludes to the famines and starvation spread by the "third horseman of the Apocalypse." These horsemen are merely the ongoing things that have plagued "disobedient man" since the beginning, brought about by man's worship of his false gods, the wars that result from these divisive religions, the famines that come from the wars, diseases, etc..

And as man's ability to kill in greater numbers progresses... these horsemen and the severity of fanatical religion, more devastating wars that instigate famines and diseases and pestilences... will draw the world closer and closer to the "fifth seal" of Revelation 6 -- the time Jesus describes as "Great Tribulation" [Matt.24:9-28]. An unprecedented time unlike any other in world history [verse 21].

Prophecy reveals in the Last Days that the Great Tribulation will last 3 1/2 years before God will have to return to stop all life on earth from ending [Matt.24:22; see also Rev.13:5].

It tells us that God will send "Two Witnesses" to warn the world of God's impending return [Rev.11] during this 3 1/2 year period:

"...I will give power to My Two Witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days [3 1/2 years], clothed in sackcloth." (Rev.11:3 NIV)

Of these Two Witnesses... God tells us: "...These men have the power to SHUT UP THE SKY SO THAT IT WILL NOT RAIN DURING THE TIME THEY ARE PROPHESYING; and they have the power to turn the waters into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want [the 7 trumpet plagues ?].

That's 3 1/2 years of FAMINE during the Great Tribulation... the Last Days before Jesus returns [seal seven of Revelation].

That's a lot of hunger and starvation... and cannibalism during the Last Days.

"Do any of the worthless idols of the nations bring rain? Do the skies themselves send down showers? No, it is you, O LORD our God. Therefore OUR HOPE IS IN YOU, for you are the One who does all this." (Jer.14:22 NIV)

These are some of the things The Bible says about hunger and starvation in the Last Days. And the reason for it.

How long can you last without eating?

If kept well hydrated a well fed person can go without food for 30-40 days before severe symptoms (other than hunger) set in. Evidence from hunger strikers suggests that death starts to occur between 45 to 60 days. This can vary depending on how much energy the person has stored at the outset and other factors. If hydration is not maintained then death generally occurs in 10-14 days.

How long do hunger pains last?

Well, the doctor hasn't exactly "diagnosed" me with a gas build up. Although she does believe that is what I have, I have been having my pains for almost 2 months, and I went to the doctor after a month of pains. So, I know for sure they can last over a month. As for most people, it is usually 5-10 days, around there. I hope this helped.
