Next, God blesses them both and tells them to subdue the earth. So God made the sexes to join together and reproduce. This is repeated essentially in Genesis 2:24 but adds that before sex, a man and a woman should be married.
Though we humans are to 'fill the earth,' God also plans for us to become His spiritual sons and daughters (see Hebrews 2:10 and 2 Corinthian 6:18). So human reproduction serves at least two purposes: populating the earth with our posterity and providing God with the potential family in His eternal spiritual world.
A female's menstrual period as part of their fertility cycle, allowing mankind to know 'safe and unsafe' times for sex - likelihood of getting pregnant. This allows the married couple safe times to enjoy each other and to come closer together. For humans sex teaches 'oneness' for the husband and wife, something God wants us to understand as we are destined to become one with Him through His Son:
