What does polar covalent bond mean?

Polar as applied to a chemical bond means that there is an unequal sharing of electrons between the atoms and there is therfore a build up of negative charge on the more electrnegative atom and a small positive charge on the less electronegative atom this gives rise to a bond dipole.

What does it mean to call a bond?

When someone describes a chemical bond as being a covalent bond, it means that the atoms that are involved in the bond are evenly sharing electrons. Meaning that neither of the atoms has more pull on the shared electron because they have similar electronegativity. Electronegativity is the ability of an atom to attract electrons towards itself in a covalent bond. However, if you have one atom with a strong electronegativity and one with a weak one, you get a Polar Covalent bond this is where the shared electron is pulled toward the stronger atom, resulting in a slightly positive charge on one side of the bond, and a slightly negative charge at the other.

What is a Ionic bind?

If you mean Ionic bond, it is a bond that is between metal and non metal . it is the strongest bond after hydrogen bonding. for example: NaCl So Na is the ion with the positive charge, and Cl is the non ion with the negative charge. So the ion with the negative charge is more attracted to gain the free e than the positively charged ion. it is opposite of Covalent charge which is between the non-metals. For eg. ClF . these two elements share the e together instead of on of them being greedy and keeping it to itself. hope that answered your ?
