The Australian National Flag is comprised of several symbols that represent Australia and its British heritage.
The Union Jack in the upper left corner (or canton) acknowledges Australia's origin as a British settlement.
The Southern Cross, positioned on the right hand side of the flag, is a constellation visible from all of Australia's states and territories, and which was vital to early ships' navigation, and which represents Australia's position in the Southern Hemisphere.
In the bottom left hand corner is the Federation Star, also known as the Commonwealth Star, a seven pointed star which represents the union of the six colonies at federation. There is a seventh point to represent Australia's many territories (mainland and offshore).
The Australian National Flag, a defaced British blue ensign, was first flown in Canberra in 1901.
because they liked it best
The current Australian flag was design in 1900 for a British overseas possession and for that purpose it was perfectly valid . But today Australia is a completely separate country in its own right ( see Australia Acts 1986 ) . The flag should indicate our current status - not what we once were .
The red on the Australian flag means the sun on the neverending British Empire.

It means that it's the center of the flag...

peace and honesty
The design of the Australian flag came about as a result of a competition in which five almost identical entries were selected. The winning entries belonged to individuals from the Australian cities of Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Auckland, New Zealand.
The flag has remained largely unchanged since its original design in 1901. The flag was simplified, and approved by King Edward VII in 1902.
it mean spiderman is dead
The Australian flag came into being after the Federation of the States into the Commonwealth of Australia on 1 January 1901. A design competition was held, and five almost identical designs selected to share the prize. On 3 September 1901, the new Australian flag flew for the first time from the top of the Exhibition Building in Melbourne. The flag was simplified, and approved by King Edward VII in 1902.
They are very different. The flag of the United Kingdom, which is referred to as the British flag, appears in the top left corner of the Australian flag. The rest of the Australian flag is blue and has some stars on it, including some representing the Southern Cross, which is a constellation, and the Commonwealth Star.
