What does the diagnostic code P 0745 mean for a 2001 Jaguar S-Type?

P0745 is the code for Pressure Control Solenoid A - I have the same problem.
The fix seems to be to replace the solenoid pack but if you also have P0795 (Pressure Control Solenoid C) the 4-3 pre-stroke spring is probably broken too. The spring is a cheap fix: about a tenner for the spring, but you need to change the fluid (Mercon-V), the filter and pan gasket, the solenoid pack a bit more, likely around £500 but I haven't checked this out fully yet. I believe both of these can be done without removing the box.
The fault with the solenoid pack is apparently a faulty grounding wire so some clever auto box specialist may be able to fix this without a new solenoid pack.
