Well, it tells us a lot about the relative size and weight of an animal, plus whether it was wounded at the feet, how many toes/claws and legs it had. and it could tell us how fat it was
For us to answer, you would have to define "better". I can target shoot at 50-100 meters with a .22 target rifle, and I can't do that with a pellet gun. But I can target shoot in my basement during bad weather with a pellet gun- and I can't do that with my .22s.
