The Emergency Broadcast System is designed to function as a notification from your government that there is an emergency either happening or going to happen shortly. The E.B.S. will either cut into your regularly scheduled programming, or will replace it out right - normally after an alerting sound or tone. It is very important that you pay attention to these broadcasts as your life may depend on it. However, It is now called the Emergency Alert system, but serves the same purpose.
